Five Questions Before the Doors Open

Five questions a grocery operator should be able to answer before the doors open:

How did we do yesterday, against last week and against the same week last year? Which stores are trending down, and since when? What did we lose to shrink and markdowns? Which orders didn't arrive the way we expected? Which promotions actually moved units?

None of these are hard questions in the sense of requiring judgment or expertise. Every one of them is answerable from data the operator already collects. What makes them hard in practice is that answering all five today usually means opening four or five different systems, each with its own login and its own export, and manually lining the results up before the meeting starts.

CounterCtrl Cloud was built around the idea that these five questions shouldn't require four systems to answer.

Sales answers the first two directly — performance by store, department, and item, with this week / last week / last year comparison built into every view, so a trend shows up as a trend rather than a number someone has to notice is unusual. Orders answers the fourth: what was ordered against what actually arrived, with the variance surfaced rather than buried in a receiving log. Coupons answers the fifth, reconciling redemption against actual unit movement so a promotion's real impact is visible instead of assumed.

Weekly Performance is where all of it comes together — the same rhythm most operators already run, minus the two hours of assembly that usually precede it.

The goal was never to add a sixth system. It was to make the answer to all five questions available from one place, before the first customer walks in.
